Trade Missions to China and the US!

Our mission to make our little bear one of the world’s most travelled bears took a big leap forward this month.

We were invited on two Trade Missions that took place over the past few weeks, with Moussa our export manager heading East to Asia, and Brad & Andrew heading West to the USA!

Moussa was part of a Welsh trade and culture delegation to Shanghai and Hong Kong to spread the word about great Welsh products and creative pursuits, including our tasty brews! As well as meeting our current and potential export customers, Moussa presented a tasting at Craft Beer Depot in Shanghai and attended a Tap Take Over at one of Hong Kong’s best craft beer bars, The Globe, before heading on to Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Taipei. Moussa also managed to visit local Hong Kong breweries including Lion Rock and Young Master, as well as catching the recently opened Taps brewbar in Shenzhen, perennial Taipei favourite Beer Geek, and Taihu Brewing's brand new Driftwood place in Ximen.

Our beers are already available in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei. It was amazing to see such an interest on the Chinese mainland, and with a population of over a billion people in China, there are more than a few opportunities to convert some new Tiny Rebel fans!

Last week, Brad & Andrew were in the States, specifically New York, where we have been talking to importers for a while now. In their downtime between meetings they did a spot of sightseeing, but obviously the sights they were most interested in were the Big Apple’s handful of Welsh bars - Sunken Hundred, Longbow Pub & Pantry and Snowdonia.

The US is Wales’ largest export market, so we were keen to get over there and see how our little bear can plant our flag on American soil. New York is the cultural and economic hub of the US, so where better to introduce the States to our beers?

After seminars on the American market from the New York Economic Development Corporation and the Welsh Government, and meetings with distributors and importers, there was a little time to visit some of the best New York breweries including Captain Lawrence and Single Cut to see how they do things.

So look out America and China! We’ll be back soon!
