We’ve turned the power level of our brewhouse to OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND for this new seasonal brew!
With the warmer months approaching, we thought it the perfect time to brew up one of our favourite beer styles. Saisons are traditionally brewed in cooler months ready for the sunny days of spring and summer. So during a wet March we got to work on something that would be perfect for when the sun finally comes out.
We selected a classic Wallonian saison yeast, the same used in some of the most famous saisons, that develops earthy, peppery notes in fermentation. But with summer in mind, we wanted to supe-up this brew with summery citrus flavours whilst still retaining that herbal, spicy element.
So we’ve transformed this beer into a SUPER SAISON with kaffir lime leaves and lemon verbena - the intense fragrance of these ingredients gives this beautiful saison an inviting aroma and a bright citrus tang to complement the spicy flavours of the saison yeast.
As if that’s not enough, we’ve packed the brew with three similarly flavoured hops - Motueka carries a fresh Mojito-like lime note, Southern Cross brings a lemon zest note to the party and Pekko has sweet herbal and floral elements like mint as well as an underlying sweet citrus note. All together, this saison will pack a bit of a citrus punch, without a single citrus being harmed in the brewing process!
We’ll be launching Super Saison at our bars in Cardiff and Newport on Thursday 20th April, where it will be available on keg and in bottle. If you can’t make it, look out for it in beer bars and bottle shops near you very soon!
