Our New Phone Message

This week we changed our phone option message. You know the thing when you phone up and it goes “please press 1 for sales, 2 for marketing…” etc. etc. - we changed it up a bit to make it easier for people to get to the right department.

So, firstly - if you’re used to phoning us for any reason, please note that the options have changed. If you usually call and hit option three straight away, you might find yourself speaking to completely the wrong department.

Secondly, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show everyone how much work goes into the things we do and how our high standards mean that not all of it can be used. In other words, it’s the perfect opportunity for a blooper reel.

When we first introduced a phone option system when we moved to the new brewery (because we weren’t all crammed into the same tiny office anymore), we asked our warehouseman Tom to record the message. Tom is fun and friendly, and crucially, has the most Newport accent out of all of us, so it just made sense for him to be the voice of Tiny Rebel.

We decided to stick with Tom for our refresh for the above reasons. Also because we really enjoy watching him get all embarrassed about doing it. Last time he made us leave the room and he surprisingly got it in two takes. This time we wanted a few bloopers, purely for our own entertainment and to embarrass Tom when we showed everyone else in the brewery.

Well why keep all the fun to ourselves? We’ve put together a short video of some of our favourite highlights of a THIRTY FOUR take recording session. 34. Just as a reminder, the last time we did this it took 2. Anyway, take a look:

So what’s the result of all these efforts? Take a listen.

And that’s the story of why you can hear a big celebration at the end of our phone message. Because it took 34 attempts to get it right.
