Introducing the next best collab since Nike x Michael Jordan…

With Gazz being a massive fan of Theakston Brewery, especially their classic Old Peculier, we knew we had to make this happen, after all, we think cask rules! So we thought we would swap brewers for a couple of days and mash up our classic brews into something different. 

This is where the new meets old, Theakstons joined our brew team to reinvent our classic and award winning Welsh Red Ale, Cwtch! Which has resulted in Cwtch being turned into a Golden Ale and boy is it delicious! Usually brewed using Crystal malts, the Theakston team replaced this and made Cwtch into a more hop forward beer by using Belgian yeast as well as Munich malts and other specialist pale malts, which has also helped bring on the golden colour you would usually expect from a Golden Ale.

Now for the old to meet new, for this we sent some of our team up to Yorkshire, the UK’s capital of tea. This is where we joined the Theakston’s brew team in their ancient brewhouse in Marsham to reinvent their classic beer Old Peculier and turn into a Chocolate Old Peculier, yup we love chocolate.

To do this we decided to use chocolate malts in the brew, as well as 100% pure cocoa! Yes, as you can imagine it smelt like a chocolate factory (our mouth is watering just writing this) We also added in British hops, Fuggle and Progress to bring some sweetness as well a subtle bitterness to the brew.
